Nick Rado in Rhys Darby’s new sitcom Short Poppies

Nick Rado is recurring character Jeff Mason in Rhys Darby’s new sitcom Short Poppies.  Created and written by Rhys Darby, Short Poppies is a series of day-in-the-life exclusive interviews with a group of unique Kiwi characters.  Nick plays Jeff Mason a local Drive Time radio DJ on NZFM.  Nick will appear in Episodes 1, 4 & 8.  Episode 1 sees Nick’s character Jeff host the annual Sexy Legs Competition which Terry Poole (Rhys Darby) is desperate to retain his crown.  Episode 1 also features Cohen Holloway, Stephen Merchant and is directed by Flight of the Conchords star Jemaine Clement

The series will be launched at 6pm on April 1, onTVNZ Ondemand and will be available Ondemand for four weeks.  The series will be screening on TV ONE later in 2014.

The eight-episode series is then set to launch exclusively on April 3 for Netflix subscribers in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Ireland.

Nick Rado has been included in a book alongside some of the biggest names in UK comedy.  Comedian Steve Best, has spent the last seven years documenting stand-ups backstage – The pictures he’s taken include a lot of comedians at different stages of their careers, some old, some young, some famous, some up and coming open spots and circuit comedians. The book is a small insight into the UK comedy circuit. In the book are comedians such as Jo Brand, Harry Hill, Sarah Millican, Lee Mack, Jack Whitehall, Rufus Hound, Micky Flanagan, Sean Hughes, Russell Kane, Greg Davies, Jon Richardson and Omid Djalili.

Nick Rado’s new show ‘How did we survive the 90′s?’ not only sold out it’s run but was also nominated for best comedy at the Dunedin Fringe Festival.  Next stop is the NZ International Comedy Festival where Nick will be performing in Wellington and Auckland.  Make sure you grab your tickets whilst you still can.

Nothing But Stand Up: The Gents, Gets Awesome Review

Oh boy was it an amazing time at the World Christchurch Buskers festival, 10 sold out shows over 5,200 audience members packed into a big top tent in a middle of a park in Christchurch, big thanks to awesome comedians Jeremy Elwood, David Quirk and Stu Goldsmith for rocking out the gigs.

Nick Rado Wins 2 Awards at the 2013 NZ Comedy Guild Awards

It’s with great joy we can announce another Nick Rado humble brag.  Last night at the 2013 NZ Comedy Guild Awards Nick Rado won ‘Best Show’ and for the first time in NZ comedy history he has taken out NZ’s best MC award for the third year in a row.
